New Lumidox® II Wavelength Release – 255nm UVC

Published: June 16, 2025

Analytical Sales and Services is excited to announce a groundbreaking addition to our Lumidox® II product line: 255nm UVC LED Arrays! Long considered too cost-prohibitive for practical use, this powerful wavelength is now accessible thanks to recent technological advances in LED manufacturing. By sourcing an economical yet relatively powerful 255nm LED, Analytical has overcome the price-to-performance barrier that has limited UVC LED applications—delivering high-output performance at a fraction of the historical cost.

Achieving this milestone wasn’t just a matter of finding the right LED. Because 255nm “light” sits deep in the ultraviolet spectrum, specialized materials were needed that properly transmit this wavelength. Analytical’s Engineering team has developed custom lens solutions using precision quartz, and sourced novel quartz vials to ensure sample containers are fully transparent to UVC. New PCB designs were also implemented to support the unique power requirements of UVC LEDs, and specialized spectrometers capable of accurately calibrating at 255nm to ensure system performance and reliability were procured.

The 255nm wavelength opens the door to exciting new applications—from high-energy photochemistry to polymer resin curing and surface disinfection—making this one of the most versatile and powerful additions to the Lumidox® lineup yet! Stay tuned as we prepare to make the 255nm and other new wavelength Lumidox® arrays available for purchase soon on our Lumidox® II product page.
